Lauric Acid (46.93%) is the major fatty acid in coconut oil. It has a maximum antiviral activity and also has antimicrobial effects. It inactivates fungi, yeast and protozoa, ringworm (dermatophytes), Candida albicans, Giadia lamblia, Chlamydia trachomatis, Herpes simplex virus-2, HIV-1, and Neisseria gonorrhea.
